Okanagan forecast will keep us dreaming of summer

This week's Okanagan forecast isn't calling for a lot of sun.

There’s not much in the way of sunny, warm weather to inspire thoughts of summer in the Okanagan forecast for this first week of June.

There is some sun expected over the next few days, but that will be well mixed with grey skies, showers and temperatures a couple of degrees below seasonal norms.

Still, it could be worse. Last Saturday's evening thunderstorms in the Okanagan moved east, making for a stormy weekend in Alberta where The Weather Network says the second tornado recorded this year touched down in that province on Sunday, near Beiseker.

Parts of Alberta also experienced some intense winds and heavy rain in a system that is moving out of the province and into Manitoba and northern Ontario today.

Environment Canada says to expect clearing conditions today with a high of 22 Celsius and a low of 8 C.

Increasing cloudiness tomorrow morning could give way to a 30 per cent chance of showers late Tuesday afternoon. Winds becoming southwest at 20 km/h should be accompanied by a high of 20 C in Vernon and Kelowna, 22 C in Penticton.

There is a 60 per cent chance of showers continuing overnight Tuesday, along with a low of 8 C.

Wednesday is expected to be a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 20 C and a low of 10 C

A mix of sun and cloud on Thursday should see a high of 20 C and a low of 10 C.

A mostly cloudy day is in store for Friday, with a high of 21 C and a low of 13 C.

There’s a 60 per cent chance of showers overnight Friday.

The weekend looks like it will be cloudy at this point, with a 60 per cent chance of showers forecast for Saturday, Saturday night and Sunday.

Weekend highs of 19 C on Saturday and 17 C on Sunday are forecast.

The normal high and low for Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton for early June is 22 C and 8 C.
