Okanagan Falls wineries get in the Christmas spirit this weekend

Harvesting may be complete for the year, but there are still reasons to visit local wineries, as Okanagan Falls 12 wineries play host to an open house this weekend.

OKANAGAN FALLS - Wineries in Okanagan Falls have extended an invitation to join them for an open house weekend.

The 12 wineries making up the Okanagan Falls Winery Association will hold the Holiday Cheer Open House tomorrow, Nov. 18 and Sunday, Nov. 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The open house event provides opportunities for holiday gifting ideas, food pairings and wine sampling. There is no cost for the event, but non-perishable goods will be collected for the Helping Hand’s Christmas Food Hampers program.

For more information, see the winery association website.

Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars holds their Sparkling & Fire Holiday Weekend, also on Saturday and Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Blue Mountain’s winery located at 2385 Allendale Lake Rd. in Okanagan Falls.

Reservations can be made for exclusive seated tasting of four sparkling wines, or visitors can casually stop by for food and wine around the fire pit. Donations will be accepted for the Okanagan Falls Elementary School health and active living initiatives program. For more information about this family friendly event, see the Blue Mountain website.

In Penticton, the VQA Wine Centre opens its doors for its 10th annual open house, with a full day of complimentary tastings, food vendors, live music and local art. The event takes place from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. at #101-553 Vees Dr. For further information, see the wine centre's events page.
