NEW YORK, N.Y. - Authorities say the driver of a cement truck was killed and four people were injured when the truck slammed into a 3-story home in the Bronx, causing the building to partially collapse.

Police say the driver was exiting the Major Deegan Expressway in the University Heights section just before 6:30 p.m. Monday when for some unknown reason the truck careened into two vehicles before plowing into the home.

The truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say four people in the vehicles struck by the truck suffered non-life threatening injuries.

No one was injured in the home, which sustained structural damage. One firefighter suffered a minor injury.

The Red Cross responded to the scene and said two families, including four adults and two children, required emergency housing.
