Thunderbirds to begin weekly fly-overs above Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS - The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will soon be frequent flyers over Las Vegas.

Officials at Nellis Air Force Base say the fighter jet demonstration team beginning Monday will fly over the Las Vegas area upon returning from an air show outside the city.

The Thunderbirds are scheduled to fly over Summerlin and Las Vegas around 1:10 p.m. The fly-overs will generally be on Mondays between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Between six to eight F-16 Fighting Falcons will fly in formation for about three minutes.

The Thunderbirds and U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels have overflown several U.S. cities in recent months in a show of national unity amid the coronavirus pandemic.

They were grounded last month after a few members tested positive for COVID-19.
