OTTAWA - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says JBS Food Canada is recalling some Provigo ground beef products due to possible E. coli contamination.

The CFIA says the products impacted by the recall are club packs of medium ground beef or fresh lean ground beef with best before dates ranging from Sept. 16 to 18.

The agency says the products were sold at Provigo's 1 Boulevard du Plateau location in Gatineau, Que.

The recall was triggered by JBS, but the CFIA says it is now conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products.

The CFIA is advising anyone who has purchased the recalled products to throw them out or return them to the store where they were bought.

Th agency is urging anyone who thinks they have fallen ill from consuming one of the recalled products to contact their doctor because food contaminated with E. colimay not look or smell spoiled but can still cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea and more severe reactions.
