North Okanagan's O'Keefe Ranch eyes opening date

The popular North Okanagan Historic O’Keefe Ranch has opened up its grounds to the public for free for the next two weeks, in preparation for its official soft opening June 17.

Effective immediately, the Historic O’Keefe Ranch is allowing members of the public to wander its grounds as a way to just get people outdoors prior to its reopening. The O’Keefe Ranch has also set donation boxes up around the grounds, so those enjoying the freebie can donate. A media release from the Ranch says online donations are also encouraged and greatly appreciated.

"The COVID-19 pandemic continues to trouble not-for-profits leaving many of them wondering if or how they will open again," reads the release. "However, the ranch has rallied once again and is pushing through."

To adhere to pandemic safety protocols, the open-air museum will start by running mini-events at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. with tickets purchased in advance online, to ensure tours do not exceed the maximum limits. The mini-events will include a self-guided tour and a heritage building tour which will include an interpreter.

As the O'Keefe Ranch navigates pandemic safety protocols, more mini-tours will be introduced.

The O'Keefe Ranch is also offering 2020 season pass holders at a 20 per cent discount and including a free pass for 2021.

The popular Cowboy Dinner Show will now become a Cowboy Campfire experience as the Ranch complies with a wealth of new pandemic era guidelines.
