FILE PHOTO

VERNON - Officers from Vernon and Lake Country worked together to catch a car theft suspect early this morning.

At 1 a.m. today, Dec. 11, Lake Country RCMP informed their counterparts in Vernon that a stolen Ford F-150 was travelling north on Highway 97 after fleeing from an officer, according to an RCMP media release.

Officers spotted the vehicle and successfully deployed a spike belt on Highway 97 in Vernon and disabled the stolen truck which eventually stopped at 48 Avenue and 32 Street.

RCMP say the driver attempted to escape on foot and hide in the bed of another pickup truck, where police found and arrested her.

The suspect, a 37-year-old woman from Crossfield, Alberta, remains in custody and faces possible charges in relation to failing to stop for police and possession of stolen property.
