No shortage of things to do in the South Okanagan this Family Day long weekend

The Grist Mill in Keremeos is hosting a Seedy Saturday event from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for those wanting to get a jump on springtime activities. It's just one of many activities in the South Okanagan this Family Day weekend.

PENTICTON - There are lots of outdoor activities scheduled for families in and around the Peach City for the upcoming Family Day long weekend.

Oliver Family Day Free Skate and Oliver Parks and Recreation presents Disco on Ice on Feb. 13 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Oliver Arena. There will be free skate rentals while they las and regular public skating rules apply. For more information, call 250-498-4985.

Learn to ice fish on Feb. 11 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Yellow Lake on Highway 3A. Free gear, tackle and lunch will be provided at this event hosted by the B.C. Wildlife Federation, the Province of B.C. and the Freshwater Fisheries Society of B.C. Organizers ask that you dress warmly and wear winter boots. Those 16 years and older require a B.C. Freshwater fishing license. For more information check out the Go Fish B.C. website.

Apex Mountain Resort is planning a fun filled Monday, Feb.13, with 50 per cent off all lift tickets. On Valentine's Day the resort is offering a buy one, get a second lift ticket free.

The Penticton Legion is hosting a spaghetti dinner and auction fundraising event Saturday, Feb. 11 to raise money for Penticton Fire Department’s marine rescue boat. Auction items include race car rides at the Area 27 Formula one track near Oliver and a family helicopter ride donated by HNZ Topflight Helicopters. Tickets are $15 each and available at the main firehall at 250 Nanaimo Ave., or from the legion at 502 Martin St. For more information, see the fire department website.

It's Seedy Saturday at the Keremeos Grist Mill on Feb. 11. The annual event provides an opportunity for gardeners to exchange seeds and share knowledge. There is no cost to the event, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, go the Grist Mill website.

The Splash and Dash runs Sunday, Feb. 12 starting at 9 a.m. in Penticton. The duathlon is open to everyone between 16 and 99 years of age in an outing designed to be fun, relaxing and non-intimidating. Beginner athletes are welcome to try the 750 metre swim and three kilometre run. Race fees are $18 for adults, $13 for kids and a family of three is $40. Nickleodeon’s Bubble Guppies Live! Ready to Rock show happens at the Cleland Community Theatre Sunday, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. The show features music, high jinks and audience participation for kids, parents and grandparents. Tickets are $26.50 in advance, $30 at the door and available online.
