Night skiing will be back next winter at Kelowna's Big White

A snowboarder is pictured enjoying the slopes in the evening.

Skiing after dark will return to Big White Ski Resort near Kelowna next winter.

Night skiing was an option for skiers and boarders in the past but the resort put the program on a two-year hiatus during the pandemic.

“We have a lot of work to do in continuing to find new staff beds and quite frankly, the team members to operate night skiing,” Michael J. Ballingall, senior vice president said in a media release.

“But, we know this is a family favourite, and an essential attraction for our local skiers and snowboarders, and we are so happy to have it back on the roster for the upcoming ski season.”

Although the return of night-skiing can’t be enjoyed until the start of the next ski season, the announcement was timed to sync up with Tourism Industry Association of Canada’s Tourism Week, which runs from May 29 to June 4.

During night skiing at Big White, slopes are illuminated while users can enjoy runs that are accessible via the Bullet Express and Plaza Chair.
