There's a new COVID-19 outbreak at Kelowna General Hospital.

Interior Health said in a media release issued today, June 4, the outbreak is in unit 3E at KGH. Two patients and one staff member have tested positive for COVID-19.

An investigation is taking place and any patients with COVID-19 are being relocated to the COVID-19 unit in the hospital, Interior Health said.

Anyone considered potentially exposed will be contacted directly by the health authority. There is currently no evidence that COVID-19 transmission is occurring to other areas of the hospital, IH said.

"Outbreak control measures are in place and a team of infection control and communicable disease specialists, along with KGH clinical staff and leaders, are meeting daily to contain the outbreak," the media release reads.

Residents are able to safety go to the hospital for appointments and emergency care, as well as any scheduled procedures.

COVID-19 tests can be booked online or by calling 1-877-740-7747.
