Interior Health confirmed another person in the Kelowna Secondary School community tested positive for COVID-19, but the case is unrelated to the one announced Sunday.

This time, the disease was acquired from a household member, Central Okanagan Public Schools announced in a press release Monday night, Oct. 26.

"They are self-isolating at home with support from local public health teams. Interior Health follows up with anyone potentially exposed to a confirmed case directly through contact tracing," the school district said in a press release.

"The safety and well-being of students, families, and staff remain our highest priority. Central Okanagan Public Schools will continue to implement the strict health and safety protocols and procedures that are in place so students and staff can continue to attend school as safely as possible."

Kelowna's École de l’Anse-au-sable announced an outbreak last Wednesday, when three positive tests were discovered amongst members of the school. On Friday, Interior Health announced the outbreak had grown to 11 cases, and 160 members of the school were self-isolating for two weeks after coming into contact with the infected people. The school is now among two in the province closed as the issue is dealt with.
