Sheepdogs keep rolling, to release self-titled new album on Sept. 4

TORONTO - The Sheepdogs will keep rolling this summer, as the Saskatoon retro-rockers have announced the details of a new self-titled album.

The record will be available Sept. 4 with production by the Black Keys' Patrick Carney and Austin Scaggs.

First single "The Way It Is" has been released online and a video will be released in the coming weeks.

The Sheepdogs formed in 2006 but shot to fame last summer after winning a contest and appearing on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.

Since, third studio album "Learn & Burn" has been certified gold in Canada and the quartet picked up trophies at this year's Juno Awards for single of the year and rock album of the year.

The band has a cluster of Canadian tour dates scheduled this summer, including shows in Toronto, St. John's, N.L., Montreal, Truro, N.S., Fredericton and Squamish, B.C.

"I think different albums have processes and this was a different experience for us, but that's part of what makes it interesting," frontman Ewan Currie said in a release.

"We wanted to just go with the flow and make the album that represented where we are now.... We wanted to be able to incorporate all different styles and I think our album runs the gamut."
