Brody, Bamford, Reid among top nominees for Canadian Country Music prizes

TORONTO - Scottish-born singer Johnny Reid will compete for a leading eight trophies at this year's Canadian Country Music Association Awards.

Reid's nominations include album of the year for "Fire It Up," the title track of which has been nominated for single of the year.

He's also up for fans' choice award, male artist of the year and record producer of the year.

British Columbia-raised Dean Brody is close behind with seven nominations, while Alberta's Gord Bamford has six.

The nominations were announced this morning at a news conference in Toronto.

The awards will be handed out Sept. 9 in Saskatoon.

Bamford, Brody and Reid are all scheduled to perform, as is American country sensation Miranda Lambert.
