SOOKE, B.C. - A 43-year-old Victoria man has been charged in what police allege is a murder-for-hire case.
RCMP say Trevor Porter is suspected of trying to hire someone from Sooke, B.C., to kill a person in nearby Langford.
Staff Sgt. Steve Wright says Porter was arrested in Sooke and police later seized an unregistered handgun from a home in Langford.
He says Porter was released from custody Thursday on $25,000 bail and that a provincial court judge imposed numerous conditions.
Porter has been charged with counselling to commit an indictable offence, careless use of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 27.
