One man is custody after an altercation in Salmon Arm earlier this month between two men with a history of violence.

RCMP officers received a report of one male threatening another with bear spray at 3 Street SW and 5 Avenue SW on the evening of Aug. 4, according to an RCMP media release issued today, Aug. 17. Both individuals are known to each other and the police.

The incident is believed to be targeted after further investigation revealed a history of violence between the two men involving weapons, RCMP said.

The suspect in the present case, a 28-year-old male with no fixed address, threatened the same victim with a knife a few days earlier.

The 28-year-old was arrested shortly after the Aug. 4 altercation. He was searched and found in possession of an illegal quantity of drugs which were seized.

He has been remanded into custody at this time and Crown council has approved charges of robbery, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and failure to comply with court ordered conditions.
