As construction continues on Phase 3 of the Gellatly Road Upgrade and the weather improves generating more traffic to West Kelowna’s beautiful waterfront, motorists are being encouraged to avoid use of Angus Drive as a detour whenever possible.
Gellatly Road remains closed to all traffic from the intersection of Angus Drive South to just north of the CNR Wharf. Large commercial trucks and vehicles towing boat trailers should access Gellatly Road destinations (Cove Resort, Gellatly Boat Launch, Gellatly Nut Farm, West Kelowna Yacht Club, Willow Beach, etc.) using Gellatly Road South via the Highway 97/Glenrosa Road Interchange.
Angus Drive is best suited for local traffic and small passenger vehicles. The District of West Kelowna asks that motorist please obey the current 30 km/h speed limit when using Angus Drive.
The $2.29 million Gellatly Road Phase 3 Upgrade is expected to be completed by the end of June. The project extends from Kent Park (intersection of Gellatly Road and Angus Drive) to the CNR Wharf and includes:
Upgrades to Gellatly Road to the District of West Kelowna's new two-lane urban local road standard
Concrete curb and gutter
Cycling lanes
Ornamental street lights
New retaining wall between the road and the existing waterfront walkway
Parallel and angled parking
Pathway improvements
Pedestrian outlooks
70 street side trees
Benches
