Penticton RCMP took a driver into custody for impaired driving with some help from another motorist last week.

Officers were alerted around 2:30 p.m., Jan. 14, to an erratic driver observed to be driving very slowly, then quickly accelerating and almost colliding with on coming vehicles on Fairview Road.

Police spokesperson Const. James Grandy said in a release issued this morning, Jan. 18, officers combed the area while a witness, provided information to police of the driver’s whereabouts on a 911 call.

The witness was behind the suspect vehicle in front of Penticton Secondary School when the suspect driver suddenly reversed, ramming the witness’ vehicle.

Both occupants of the witness vehicle were able to get out of the vehicle, suffering minor injuries.

Police arrived on scene and placed a 28-year-old female driver under arrest for dangerous and impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
