Motorcyclist killed in collision with SUV in West Kootenays

A 63-year-old-man was killed in a motorcycle crash near Nelson in the West Kootenay region yesterday afternoon.

RCMP were called to a report of a fatal crash between a SUV and a motorcyclist at around 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, on Highway 3A at Bonnington Road near Nelson, according to an RCMP media release.

The man riding the motorcycle crashed into the SUV which was stopped in the passing lane while trying to turn left off the highway, RCMP said. The 63-year-old was pronounced dead on the scene.

Nelson RCMP investigators determined the motorcyclist was unable to stop in time.

Anyone who may have information, including motorists who may have witnessed this collision or have dash cam video, are asked to contact Nelson RCMP at 250-352-2156.
