PENTICTON - Police continue to investigate a fatal collision on Highway 97 north of Penticton yesterday.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mike Halskov said in a press release police were called to a head-on collision near Kickininee Park around 4:55 p.m. yesterday, June 25.

Police determined a southbound Cadillac SUV and a northbound motorcycle collided head-on, with the Cadillac leaving the highway and coming to a stop partially submerged in Okanagan Lake.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Cadillac driver sustained minor injuries.

The Cadillac driver was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

South Okanagan Traffic Services, RCMP collision analysts and reconstruction service and the B.C. Coroners Service are investigating the cause of the crash.

Anyone with information about the incident, including any dashcam footage is asked to call South Okanagan Traffic Services in Keremeos at 250-499-2250.

The collision resulted in Highway 97 being shut down in both directions for around four and a half hours yesterday evening.
