A woman riding a motorcycle was killed in a collision with a car on Highway 5 in Kamloops yesterday afternoon.

RCMP say at around 4 p.m. yesterday, May 13, a Kia Soul with Alberta license plates turned left on a red light near Paul Lake Road in front of a northbound motorcycle.

The 50-year-old local woman riding the motorcycle died at the scene from the injuries she sustained in the crash, according to an RCMP media release.

The driver of the Kia was a woman in her 70s and she wasn't hurt and remained on the scene.

RCMP say impairment is not considered a factor.

The collision was captured on video surveillance, however anyone with additional information or pre-collision dash camera footage is asked to contact Central Interior Traffic Services at 250-828-3111.
