Motorcyclist hit by truck

A motorcyclist's shoe was knocked off when he collided with a pickup truck June 30, 2014.

KAMLOOPS - The driver of a motorcycle is in hospital with possible spinal injuries following a crash at the corner of Springhill Drive and Summit Drive in Kamloops.

The motorcylist, making a left turn onto Springhill Drive, was hit by a truck in the early afternoon, June 30. The truck was flipped onto its side. Ambulance attendents checked the driver of the truck for injuries at the scene and he was released. The motorcyclist was taken to Royal Inland Hospital though emergency personnel believe the possible injuries to his spine are non-life-threatening.

Both men in the accident are in their twenties. Though drugs and alcohol are not likely a factor, RCMP are recommending charges for either failing to yeld or entering an intersection on a red light. Charges will depend on the investigation and witness reports. RCMP say the driver of the motorcycle was unlicensed.

Ambulance, firefighters and police were on scene.

The road was expected to be clear by 2:30 p.m.
