VERNON - A local man is in potentially life threatening condition after losing control of his motorcycle Sunday afternoon.
Police say the 55-year-old Vernon man was travelling east on Bella Vista Road, Sept. 13, when he lost control and crashed around 4 p.m. His bike was extensively damaged in the accident.
Both police and B.C. Ambulance attended, and the man was rushed to hospital with head injuries. Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy couldn’t confirm the man’s condition as of Monday morning, but said his injuries were potentially life threatening. He was wearing a helmet.
Police continue to investigate the crash and are interviewing witnesses.
Earlier in the day, another motorcyclist failed to negotiate a corner on Highway 6 near Aberdeen Road in Coldstream and ended up in the ditch about 11:40 a.m. The 62-year-old man from the Greater Vernon area was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Noseworthy says speed is not considered to be a factor , and it appears the man simply went too wide on the turn.
