A motorcyclist has died and another biker was airlifted to hospital following a collision on Highway 6, just east of the Needles Ferry yesterday afternoon.
RCMP Const. Mike Halskov said the incident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. yesterday, July 30, in the 12000 block of Highway 6, roughly 15 kilometres east of the Needles Ferry. The ferry crosses Upper Arrow Lake on Highway 6 between Cherryville and Nakusp.
Halskov said a group of motorcyclists were travelling eastbound when, for reasons that are not known, a female motorcycle rider was ejected from her motorbike into the path of the motorcycle travelling behind her.
The RCMP spokesperson said the woman died from her injuries. The other motorcyclist involved was airlifted to hospital.
Okanagan Traffic Services, South East District Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, and the B.C. Coroners Service are continuing to investigate this collision.
Halskov said no more information would be given out at this time.
