Mostly sunny start to the week in Kamloops

The sun is back in the Kamloops forecast with a mostly sunny start to the week before clouds creep back into the region.

We've reached a weather turning point as we begin moving away from the depths of winter as the days begin to lengthen.

Environment Canada meteorologist Doug Lundquist says the week will start off with some sunshine before some Pacific weather systems bring clouds and a few flurries or showers for the latter half of the week.

“Temperatures should be around 3 to 6 Celsius by day, slightly above normal, but it will still be cool enough for most of the precipitation to be snow,” he says.

Today, Feb. 10, in Kamloops it should be mainly sunny with wind becoming east at 20 km/h this afternoon, along with a high of 4 Celsius.

Windchills are expected in the -7 C range today with partly cloudy skies and a low of -1 C tonight.

Tuesday should see a mix of sun and cloud with east wind at 20 km/h gusting to 50 before becoming west at 20, gusting to 50 near noon.

Tuesday’s high should reach 6 C with a low of -4 C.

A sunny day is expected Wednesday with a high of 4 C. Wednesday night could see a 40 per cent chance of flurries along with cloudy periods and a low of -2 C.

A mix of sun and cloud is forecast for Thursday along with a 40 per cent chance of flurries and a high of 7 C. Thursday night should see cloudy periods and a low to -2 C.

The sun and cloud mix is expected to continue Friday along with a 40 per cent chance of showers and a high of 6 C. It should be cloudy overnight with a low of -3 C.

It likes like a grey weekend coming up with cloudy skies forecast for Saturday and Sunday, with highs of 5 C and 7 C respectively.

Kamloops’s normal high and low for this time of year is 3 C and -5 C.
