More North Okanagan and Okanagan Indian Band residents will be able to return home this afternoon as evacuation orders due to the White Rock Lake wildfire have been rescinded.

An evacuation order for Regional District of North Okanagan residents in Electoral Area B, including properties west of Okanagan Lake and above Westside Road has been rescinded. The order has been downgraded to an alert.

The White Rock Lake wildfire is currently being held, which means the B.C. Wildfire Service doesn't expect it to grow outside of its existing boundaries.

Properties on Bouleau Lake and Pinaus Lake remain on an evacuation order, according to the regional district's press release.

The properties that are no longer on evacuation alert include:

• 140, 464 of Whiteman Creek Road
• 252, 351, 425, 485, 631, 635, 400 block of Nashwito Road
• 17, 65 of Cain Road
• 75, 79, 305, 311, 315 of Beau Park Road
• 10, 15, 50, 93 of Banks Road

The regional district has provided a map of the updated evacuation area.

Residents that have sustained damage to their homes that has left the building unlivable, including total losses, can access extended Emergency Support Services by visiting the reception centre at the Dogwood Gym in the Vernon Recreation Centre (3409 35th Avenue). Hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.

An evacuation order on Okanagan Indian Band land has also been partially rescinded, for the area south of the Mudhole to Pinecrest Road including Qui Qui Tasket Road, excluding the Mini-Shadows Road, as this remains under evacuation order, according to the OKIB's latest update.

Evacuation orders and alerts in the Regional District of Central Okanagan are not expected to change this weekend.
