NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C. - Police say a B.C. woman who was charged with manslaughter in the death of her six-month-old baby has killed herself.
Thirty-two-year-old Joyce Dobranski of New Westminster was arrested this past March and formally charged with manslaughter in connection with the June 2011 death of her infant son.
The baby was taken to hospital after police responded to a 911 call and died three days later.
A news release from the RCMP-led integrated homicide unit says Dobranski committed suicide last Thursday, but police aren't releasing further details.
The release said investigators' hearts go out to Dobranski's family.
Police have not released the cause of the baby's death, but said in March that medical experts believed there was evidence to recommend a charge of manslaughter.
