Palestinian killed in clash with army; Israel army arrests Hamas officials in West Bank

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu leaves a press conference in Tel Aviv, Israel, Sunday, June 15, 2014. Netanyahu has condemned Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' agreement with the militant group, and said he would hold him responsible for the safety of the youths, who disappeared apparently while hitchhiking in the West Bank late Thursday. JERUSALEM - Palestinian medical officials say a 20-year-old Palestinian was killed in a clash with Israeli soldiers, and the army arrested a senior Hamas official and more than 40 others in a search for three teenagers who disappeared over the weekend.

The officials say the Palestinian youth was killed in Jalazoun refugee camp in the West Bank on Monday. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were unauthorized to talk to media.

Abdel Aziz Dweik, along with more than 40 other Palestinians — most of them Hamas members — was arrested on Monday in the West Bank.

Israel says the three teenagers were kidnapped by Hamas. They disappeared Thursday on the way home from a religious school.

Also on Monday, Israeli planes struck weapons sites following rocket fire from Gaza.
