Mission Creek Greenway underpasses open again

KELOWNA - Creek levels and flows have stabilized enough for two underpasses along Mission Creek Greenway to open once again for use.

The Regional District closed trails under the Casorso Road Bridge and on the south side the Gordon Drive bridge earlier this month because of flooding. They are now open, though Regional Parks staff continue to monitor creek levels along the entire length of the Mission Creek Greenway recreational corridor.

Water levels along any creek or stream in the Central Okanagan may rise still rise unexpectedly during the spring runoff, so children and pets should stay safely back from creek banks which could be slippery and prone to erosion.

There's also a warning for boaters using Okanagan Lake boat launches and docks to keep their speed and wakes down close to shorelines to prevent wave erosion. As well, they should be on the lookout for floating debris in the lake because of the spring runoff.

Lakeshore Road access to the Mission Creek Greenway is closed until November during the Lakeshore Road construction upgrade. Trail users will have to turn around near the construction site and return toward Gordon Drive.
