PENTICTON - The family of a missing Penticton woman feared the worst when they lost cell phone contact with her five days ago.

Amber Lawrence, reported missing to RCMP by a co-worker Oct. 10, was found several days later and she's safe. Her sister Amanda Lawrence blames the disappearance on lack of cell phone service.

Amber went missing while out driving in a remote location last week, but there was a problem with her car. Stranded, she attempted to call for service, but her phone wasn't working. Amber eventually found a house and called her family to let them know she's ok.

RCMP Sgt. Rick Dellebuur said the Penticton RCMP received a call from Amber's mom saying her daughter will be returning home soon.
