Family says Prince Rupert man found dead in sunken car, ending extensive search

PRINCE RUPERT, B.C. - Family members of a missing Prince Rupert, B.C., man say the body found in a submerged vehicle near that North Coast city is that of Adam Moore.

A Volkswagen Jetta belonging to the 26-year-old was pulled from the Galloway Rapids, just outside Prince Rupert, on Wednesday.

RCMP reported the Jetta belongs to Moore and a man's body was in the vehicle, although they did not immediately identify the victim.

In a Facebook posting, Moore's family says the BC Coroners Service contacted them to confirm the body is that of their missing loved one.

Moore was last seen on Dec. 29, prompting an extensive search of the Highway 16 corridor between Prince Rupert and Terrace.

On Sunday afternoon, searchers spotted a licence plate and other vehicle parts below the Galloway Rapids Bridge, and a crane was called in to lift the wreckage out of the water. (CFTK)
