Missing Kelowna man's body found in Okanagan Lake

RCMP retrieved the body of a missing man from Okanagan Lake on April 21.

A missing Kelowna man was found deceased in Okanagan Lake today.

Police received a report at 7:40 a.m. today, April 21, that a man in his 70s was missing from his home and was believed to be out for a walk which was highly out of character, according to a release by Kelowna RCMP.

The man was found deceased in Okanagan Lake near Strathcona Park near Kelowna General Hospital after an extensive search of the area by the RCMP General Duty members, the RCMP Police Dog Service, RCMP Air Services and Central Okanagan Search and Rescue.

“Foul play is not suspected and the B.C. Coroners Service along with the Kelowna RCMP General Duty are leading the investigation,” Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Const. Mike Della-Paolera said in the release. “The RCMP are saddened by this tragic outcome and our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time.”

RCMP have notified the deceased man’s family and Victim Services are engaged in supporting the family.
