After a washout closed Highway 33 Tuesday morning, the Ministry of Transportation estimates that it will take another few days to complete the work prior to the highway's reopening.
The highway is currently closed between Three Forks Road and Philpott Road, with a detour in effect from KLO Road to McCulloch Road for light traffic. Highway 33 to Hwy 3 Rock Creek is also available for heavier traffic.
"We are anticipating two-three days to complete the work, depending on weather," according to a statement from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

Geotechnical staff assessed the site and provided recommendations for repairs to the site, which began Wednesday and crews are currently working to restore highway access, according to the statement.
"The cause of the washout appears to be groundwater saturating the ground beneath the road, resulting in the fill and road surface washing out," according to the statement.
In addition to restoring the road, placing geotextile fabric and building up layers of rock to provide stability, ministry crews are also adding a culvert for surface drainage, according to the statement.
