Mild, rainy weekend in store for Kamloops

The snow that fell this week in Kamloops should soon be gone as temperatures are forecast to remain above seasonal norms over the next few days.

There's some rain and wind in the weekend forecast for Kamloops, but temperatures should stay on the mild side.

Environment Canada meteorologist Doug Lundquist says the southern Interior could see some rain on Saturday, with higher amounts in the North Okanagan and Kamloops area, but temperatures are going to be a few degrees above normal over the next few days.

Compare that forecast to parts of Vancouver Island that could see more than 100 mm of precipitation as a perfectly aligned jet stream is expected to bring drenching rain to the coast starting Saturday, according to The Weather Network.

That’s still not as bad as Ontario, where between two and 15 cm of snow is expected today in parts of south and central Ontario, followed by patchy freezing rain tomorrow and another shot of arctic air on the weekend.

In Toronto, the third coldest November morning ever recorded was the -13.5 Celsius yesterday, Nov. 13, at Pearson Airport, The Weather Network reports.

In Kamloops today, the forecast calls for clouds with a 30 per cent chance of showers near noon, the wind east at 20 km/h and a high of 7 Celsius. The wind should become light tonight with the snow level dropping to 1,300 metres, a 60 per cent chance of showers and a low of 4 C.

Tomorrow’s forecast is similar, with cloudy skies, a 60 per cent chance of showers and a high of 10 C expected. The clouds should break up late in the afternoon with cloudy periods overnight and a low of 3 C.

Saturday is expected to be wet, with rain through the day and a high of 7 C. Periods of rain are expected overnight with a low of 6 C.

The weather office is calling for a windy day on Sunday with a mix of sun and cloud, along with a high of 13 C and a low of 2 C.

A sun and cloud mix is expected Monday, along with a high of 6 C and a low of 3 C.

Tuesday should see a few more clouds with a high of 6 C and clearing overnight with a low of -1 C.

The sun is expected to return Wednesday with a high of 5 C.

Normal temperatures this time of year in Kamloops are highs of 5 C and lows of -2 C.
