Midnight fire destroys Barnhartvale garage

KAMLOOPS - A Barnhartvale garage has been destroyed, but fire crews were able to keep the blaze from spreading to nearby structures.

Platoon Capt. Steve Butchart says Kamloops Fire Rescue was called around 11:55 p.m., yesterday, June 12, to 6108 Meadowland Cres.

When crews arrived they found a detached garage fully involved, Butchart says. Because the blaze had already caused significant damage to the garage, fire crews concentrated on defending nearby structures and were able to keep the fire from spreading.

Butchart says the homeowners were home at the time and there were no injuries.

It’s unclear what caused the fire, but investigators are on scene this morning.
