A Merritt woman has won $1 million in a Lotto 6/49 draw.

Natalie Jylha was having a typical Saturday night, watching TV and scrolling through Facebook, when she noticed someone posted that a winning ticket purchased in Merritt won the Jan. 30, Lotto 6/49 $1 Million Guaranteed Prize Draw, according to a press release from the B.C. Lottery Corporation.

“I ran and got my ticket and checked the results online. I couldn’t believe it. It was a really surreal experience,” Jylha said in the press release.

Jylha, who bought the ticket at Walmart, woke up her husband once she realized she was holding a Lotto 6/49 ticket worth $1 million.

“I just kept saying, ‘I won a million, I won a million.'” she said. “He didn’t believe me.”

At that point, Jylha was too excited to sleep and called her mom. They spent hours on the phone talking.

“We were both in shock,” she said.

Jylah is thinking about purchasing a new vehicle and a new home, but for the time being is enjoying the financial freedom.
