WINNIPEG - Police say a seven-year-old girl is dead after being mauled by two dogs in a rural area near Winnipeg.
Oakbank RCMP say officers responded to a call Sunday afternoon in the Rural Municipality of Springfield.
A girl was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police say two Alaskan malamutes were seized and are being held by animal control.
They say the animals were familiar to the girl, who was from the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews.
Her name is not being released.
