Mark your calendar for start of ski season in Kamloops, Okanagan

Winter is just around the corner, and for many that means it's almost time to hit the slopes.

While the COVID-19 pandemic remains an obvious concern, it's easy to physically distance in the great outdoors while skiing, snowboarding, skating or snowshoeing.

This could be the year for you try one, or all of the above, at one of the ski resorts in the region.

Here are the season opening dates at the four major ski hills in the Kamloops and Okanagan region:

Big White Ski Resort

Big White Ski Resort is scheduled to open on Nov. 29.

Seasons passes are available online here. Day passes can also only be purchased online this year, due to the new COVID-19 no-touch policy.

SilverStar Mountain Resort

SilverStar Mountain Resort will be fully open Dec. 4, with Nordic trails and limited facilities opening Nov. 28.

To purchase lift tickets online, click here. Be aware season's passes are sold out. 

This year, facial coverings will be required for both staff and guests in all indoor spaces, except when seated to eat or drink, and outdoors when two meters of physical distance cannot be maintained.

Sun Peaks Resort

Sun Peaks Resort is set to open Nov. 21.

You can purchase day-passes online here. Seasons passes have already sold out.

Both staff and guests will be required to wear masks or face coverings at all times in lift lines, loading the chair and unloading the chair, and are recommended when walking through the village.
