VERNON - A man who broke into a Vernon woman’s home and made himself a snack while robbing the place will face jail time.
Joshua Gerald Gunnlaugson, 34, was handed an 81-day jail term after being found guilty of possession of stolen property and break and enter in relation to a Nov. 16 offence.
Police said the homeowner called 911 after finding a strange man in her house. Gunnlaugson fled but was located and arrested a short time later.
He helped himself to various items in the home, and also took time to make himself something to eat during the break in, police said.
According to court records, a charge of theft under $5000 against him was stayed.
Gunnlaugson was sentenced Jan. 20 in Vernon provincial Court.
