Man taken to hospital after mobile home fire in Kelowna

Firefighters responded to a mobile home fire in Kelowna early this morning.

Kelowna Regional Fire Dispatch received calls about a structure fire in the 1800-block on Watson Road just before 1:30 a.m. this morning, according to a fire department media release.

The first responder on the scene discovered it was a mobile home with an addition.

Firefighters were able to control the blaze quickly and prevent the fire from spreading, but the mobile home was badly damaged.

The home had one male occupant who was transported to hospital because of smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Kelowna Fire Department responded to the call with four engines, a rescue unit, a command unit, safety unit and a deputy chief including 19 fire personnel. RCMP, BC Ambulance Service and Fortis Electric were also on the scene to help.
