A woman waiting for the bus in West Kelowna this morning believes an unknown man tried to take her three-year-old daughter.

Police are now looking to identify the man who ran from the scene.

RCMP received a report just before 10 a.m. this morning of an attempted child abduction at the Dobbin Bus Exchange in West Kelowna. Apparently the man had approached the young girl, tried speaking to her and then opened his arms towards her. The girl's mother says it looked as though he was trying to pick her up. When she screamed the man ran away and was last seen heading north on Dobbin Road.

Police are providing the following description to identify the man:

- Caucasian
- approximately 30 years old
- 6'2"
- "rough looking"
- wearing a black sweater or sweat shirt, blue jeans and a blue and white Canucks ball cap.

Police are asking witnesses and anyone with information to call the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, online at www.crimestoppers.net or text to CRIMES (274637) ktown.
