Man seriously injured in assault outside Penticton restaurant

A suspect has been arrested and released after an assault took place outside of a restaurant in Penticton.

Penticton RCMP were called to a restaurant in the 2400-block of Skaha Lake Road because of an alleged assault around 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 22, according to a press release from police. RCMP don't identify the business.

Someone assaulted a 28-year-old man who was seriously injured, but the injuries were non-life-threatening.

Police identified a suspect and arrested them. The suspect has since been released on an undertaking with conditions.

The investigation is ongoing but police have recommended criminal charges to the BC Prosecution Service.

Police did not reveal any information about the suspect.

Anyone who has information about the assault is asked to contact Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300.
