A 33-year-old man who allegedly car-jacked a Kelowna man's truck before being shot at by police has been charged with attempted murder and robbery.

Kenneth Patrick Morrison, born in 1988, has been charged with attempted murder with a firearm and robbery.

The brazen theft took place yesterday morning, March 7 and involved multiple vehicles as Morrison allegedly shot at a driver before pepper-spraying him.

Police say Morrison drove his truck into the back of a vehicle on Glenmore Road, causing it to crash around 8 that morning.

A woman in another vehicle appeared to be in distress, which led to the driver from the vehicle that had been crashed into, going over to check on her. The driver then noticed Morrison trying to get into another vehicle and was shot at and pepper-sprayed by Morrison.

Morrison then allegedly pointed a gun at another driver, before stealing their truck and heading south on Glenmore Road.

Police didn't pursue Morrison due to his erratic driving and instead followed him from the air.

The RCMP then attempted to use a traffic stop on Grizzy Road in West Kelowna and shot at Morrison.

Yesterday, police said they believed Morrison was shot and fled on foot on Highway 97 before being arrested.

It appears Morrison may have been involved in a similar erratic driving incident in Regina in 2016.

The Regina Leader Post reports that Morrison went on a "drug-fueled" 45-minute drive through the city after he stole a carpet cleaning van.

Morrison pleaded guilty to charges related to that incident and received a two-year sentence with credit for already spending time behind bars.

Morrison was held in custody on the Kelowna charges and is due to return March 11.
