Man facing numerous charges after collision with stolen vehicle in Kamloops

A Kamloops man is facing numerous charges after he rear-ended another vehicle in a stolen Kia last Saturday, police say.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP alleges Layton Mclaren, 28, rear-ended a vehicle at the intersection of Battle Street and Columbia Street on Saturday morning in what was found to be a stolen vehicle.

Police responded to the collision around 7:15 a.m. on Oct. 9. No injuries were reported.

“As part of their response, police discovered the Kia had been reported stolen, which led officers into a deeper investigation and revealed other offences, including break and enter to a residence,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson, Const. Crystal Evelyn, said in the release.

Mclaren is facing six charges, including breaking and entering a home, failure to comply with probation and theft of a motor vehicle, according to Kamloops RCMP.

He is scheduled for his first court appearance tomorrow, Oct. 14.

Anyone who witnessed or has information related to this investigation is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file number 2021-35646.
