Man evades police three times, until a spike belt comes into play

KAMLOOPS - A vehicle that fled from police last night was stopped abruptly in Sahali by a spike belt that took out three tires.

Kamloops RCMP trapped a 24-year-old male who was arrested last night in relation to impaired driving related charges after a vehicle fled multiple times from police.

The first flee came after police attempted to stop the vehicle on Tranquille Road in North Kamloops around 10 p.m. before it took off. Police searched for the the vehicle, locating it on the Summitt connector in Sahali, before it fled once again.

While police had setup a road block on McGill Road hoping to apprehend the suspect, he sped past them. However, this time police weren't fooling around and setup another roadblock with a spike belt to stop the vehicle.

Three of tires were taken out with the belt bringing the vehicle to a hault, and  the man was arrested on scene without incident.

Breath samples were collected, and multiple charges are being recommended for the man, well-known to police.
