Man dies in Oliver trailer fire

OLIVER - A trailer fire near Oliver last night has claimed a life.

RCMP says the body of a man was found in a motorhome destroyed by fire at a makeshift campground in the 3000 block Nk’mip Road near Oliver at about 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 15. Firefighters discovered the body inside the RV after the fire was extinguished.

"Residents of the park observed flames coming from the trailer and rushed over to help," Cpl. Dan Moskaluck says in a media release. "Witnesses were unsure if the RV was occupied and attempted to gain entry, however they were unable to due so prior to the trailer becoming engulfed in flames."

The Oliver RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service are investigating the fire and the man’s death.
