Man arrested after alleged Kamloops gas station robbery

Kamloops RCMP have arrested a man after a robbery took place Friday night at a local gas station.

On Feb. 15, at approximately 8:40 p.m. the Kamloops RCMP received a report of a robbery that had just occurred at the Husky Gas Station located at 884 Columbia St. W, according to the RCMP in a news release.

The lone suspect produced a knife to steal cigarettes and cash.  Police officers quickly flooded the area.

A police officer found a man matching the description of the suspect in the area of Grandview Terrace. When stopped by the police the man attempted to flee and was arrested. A search of the backpack he was carrying revealed a quantity of cash and cigarettes, the release said.

The man, who is known to police, was arrested for robbery and will be appearing before the Courts today.
