THOMPSON-OKANAGAN - Elizabeth Christie used to say she never wins anything. Her story has changed since winning the InfoNews.ca grand prize of a trip to Las Vegas.
“I guess I can’t say that anymore,” Christie laughs as she picks up her prize. “I tried a couple of other contests the same week and nothing.”
She says she was 'messing around' on Facebook when she saw the contest.
“I saw a couple of my friends had liked it so I thought why not?”
The Kelowna-based artist says she might use the $2,000 transferable gift certificate for a trip to a different place with her husband, perhaps Mexico or the Caribbean, instead of heading to Las Vegas.
“I’ve been thinking about that and I might go somewhere else. I’ve already been to Vegas and I’m not much of a gambler,” she admits.
Christie says she looks to InfoNews.ca for that latest in local news for Kelowna and the surrounding area.
“I don’t get the local paper but I’m still always up on everything ahead of my family. The content is always up-to-date and I feel I need to know that,” she says. "I hate being out of touch with what’s going on in our fabulous city. I don’t want to miss out on important things like fire alerts and what’s going on at City Hall. You can’t get that from the big news sites. And I can get it on my phone or my iPad. It’s really easy to just click over when I want to.”
Christie says she often impresses her son with her grasp of local events.
“He says ‘mom, how did you know that?’. I don’t tell him I read InfoNews.”
