MEXICO CITY - A Chinese-Mexican businessman who had fought extradition from the United States for years has arrived in Mexico.

Deputy Attorney General Salvador Sandoval said in a news conference Tuesday that Zhenli Ye Gon would be taken to the maximum-security Altiplano prison. Sandoval showed a live feed of Ye Gon arriving at the Mexico City airport.

Ye Gon had been jailed in the United States since July 2007, when authorities seized more than $205 million from his Mexico City mansion, one of the largest drug-related cash seizures ever.

Ye Gon claimed chemicals he imported were for use in legitimate prescription drugs. He fought to stay in the United States because he said he couldn't receive a fair trial in Mexico.
