BUENOS AIRES, Argentina - An Argentine judge has approved the extradition of a suspected Colombian drug boss to face cocaine trafficking charges in the U.S. District Court of southern Florida.
The ruling on the extradition of Henry Lopez Londono was published Thursday night by the official judicial news agency. However it can be appealed and could ultimately be decided by Argentina's Supreme Court.
Authorities allege that the 45-year-old Lopez Londono, alias "Mi Sangre" or "My Blood," is the leader of the "Urabenos" gang. He was arrested on the outskirts of Buenos Aires in 2012.
Lopez Londono has proclaimed his innocence and says he was set up by Colombian police and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
He is also wanted on trafficking charges in Colombia.
