Five people were arrested yesterday in Merritt after an incident that brought teams from the Lower Mainland to assist.
The Merritt RCMP received tips from multiple sources that a local couple was responsible for two assaults, one involving a firearm. Due to the nature of the complaints and the criminal history of the male suspect, the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team assisted in the mission.
In the late evening, the team gained access to a residence on Bann Street in Merritt and arrested five people. Three of the occupants may face charges that are still being considered, according to release from Merritt RCMP.
A search of the home found two replica firearms, a shotgun with a homemade silencer, a large amount of ammunition and narcotics.
Police continue to investigate.
